BARHD Story

UgandaBARHD Story

In the early 1980s, the Oklahoma Episcopal Diocese began a relationship with the Anglican churches in Bushenyi District to bring educational and health support to the people of southwest Uganda.  This relationship continued for over 20 years.  However, when a rift occurred between these groups, three Tulsa businessmen created BARHD in 2006 to insure that these established and effective programs would continue.  BARHD continued these badly needed services ultimately greatly expanding the scope of the secondary school program and initiating in 2009 our university program.

BARHD is a humanitarian organization serving all people of Bushenyi and surrounding districts in Uganda as well as supporting deserving NGOs elsewhere in East Africa.  We reach out to all service and humanitarian organizations, religious groups, and interested individuals for our funding.  Our donors come from many states and Canada.

ALL OF BARHD’S ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS ARE PAID BY BARHD’S BOARD MEMBERS. This means that 100% of your donation goes directly to the education of the young people of Uganda and Kenya.

BARHD is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit.  All donations are tax-deductible under United States IRS code.
